That's not us heading for Silver City. We'll use the truck.

Just north of here was the route of the Butterfield Stage Route, Missouri to California. The company lost lots of drivers and station employees to the Apaches, who saw them as easy prey.

Does anyone know if any of the original Butterfield route can still be driven by horses?

    Dave,
    I believe there is a portion of the Butterfield route on the west side of Las Cruces near the airport. I need to look up the name of the ranch it is on because I do know they do rides. I don't know if it driveable.

    I remembered the name of the ranch you should contact. Corralitos Ranch at 575.526.2055. I believe the wrangler's name is Billy.
